Payments to Firm’s Former Owners Face Scrutiny After West Virginia Spill

In the year before a chemical spill in West Virginia drove Freedom Industries Inc. into bankruptcy court, its three owners received $1.1 million from the company, much of it in expense reimbursements or consulting fees, according to court documents filed on Monday.
